New Catalina SCUBA Cylinders to Showcase the Undersea World of Wyland
A portion of proceeds from each tank to benefit Wyland Foundation efforts for clean water and healthy oceans
SANTA ANA, Calif. — Internationally renowned artist and conservationist Wyland, Catalina Cylinders, and Sherwood SCUBA today announced a new partnership to develop a series of limited edition Wyland designed air cylinders for SCUBA Divers.
The new venture, entitled “Catalina by Wyland,” will showcase Wyland’s acclaimed scenes of marine life art, abstracts and Chinese brush art on aluminum cylinders using Catalina’s state of the art Duragrafix printing process for unprecedented look and durability. The tanks will be distributed to dive shops and retailers around the world.
“Wyland has always been one of the most recognizable artists in the world of marine life art,” said Rick Hill, Vice President of Catalina Cylinders. “But he’s also been a tireless advocate for promoting the future sustainability of our oceans through his non-profit foundation. This is a beautiful way to celebrate the art of SCUBA Diving and increase awareness of the role divers have in promoting ocean health.”
The new tanks are expected to be released in late winter / early spring and retail for approximately $250. As part of the launch announcement, Wyland will hand paint a Catalina Cylinder on Thursday, Nov. 17, at the 2016 DEMA Show in the Sherwood SCUBA booth and the SCUBA tank will be sold in a worldwide auction to raise funds for Wyland Foundation clean water and ocean education programs.
For more than four decades renowned marine life artist Wyland has captivated the world with his spectacular paintings, photography, and landmark Whaling Wall murals. He is a member of the SCUBA Diving Hall of Fame and can be seen every week on “Wyland’s Art Studio” a nationally televised art instruction series for American Public Television. With half a million collectors around the world and the ongoing efforts of his non-profit foundation in support of global water and ocean conservation, he has done more than any other artist to raise awareness of the beauty of life on our blue planet.
